Email

LINCOLN, Neb. - Bach's Homebrew kept his unbeaten streak alive and well at Lincoln Race Course, making it 4 for 4 with a romping nine-length win in the $20,900 Big Red Mile Stakes on a windy afternoon on Monday.

Bach's Homebrew dropped well back off the early pace as From the Ashes, co-favored at 8-5 with Bach's Homebrew, and Red Rock Bluff dueled through the opening five furlongs. Bach's Homebrew and rider Chris Fackler were still well off the leaders reaching the far turn of this five-eighth-mile oval, circled the field wide through the turn, and drew off. Bach's Homebrew's trainer, Larry Staroscik, accounted for the exacta as Bingosablumin finished second, 1 1/4 lengths in front of Skwhirl in third.

Both Bach's Homebrew and Bingosablumin are owned by Bluestem Farm but were uncoupled in the wagering. The duo accounted for a $32.60 exacta while Bach's Homebrew returned $5.20 to win in the field of nine. The win boosted Bach's Homebrew's career mark to 8-2-1 from 13 starts and he moved his bankroll to $100,354. He covered the mile over a fast track in 1:41.20. Bach's Homebrew was winning his second stakes of the year after taking the Ogataul Stakes at Fonner Park in his seasonal debut on March 26.
