Lil Personalitee upsets in Eclipse at Woodbine

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Lil Personalitee pulled off a 10-1 upset in Saturday's Grade 3, $161,400 Eclipse Handicap at Woodbine.

A Fleets Dancer rallied from last to finish second in the 1 1/16-mile event, while front-runner Dream Launcher held on for third. Favored Win City, Canada's reigning Horse of the Year, finished 2 3/4 lengths back of the winner in fourth in the six-horse field.

Dream Launcher opened up a big early lead under Todd Kabel, clipping off fractions of 23.10 and 47.05 seconds. Lil Personalitee stalked in second until the quarter pole, where he took control and never looked back, scoring by 1 1/4 lengths in a time of 1:44.45.

"My horse ran a big race," said Patrick Husbands, who rode Lil Personalitee. "I wasn't worried that much about Todd's horse. I thought it was only a matter of time before I reeled him in. I got first run on him, and my horse just kept on going."

Lil Personalitee ($23.40) earned $96,840 for California Stable and trainer John Cardella.
