Levine picks right spot for Sunday Geisha

OCEANPORT, N.J. - Sunday Geisha got up in the final strides to beat Love That Dance by a half-length Sunday in the $70,000 Trenton Stakes for filly and mare sprinters at Monmouth Park.

Scratched from the Endine Stakes Saturday at Delaware Park, Sunday Geisha, the 3-2 favorite, earned her first stakes victory. A 4-year-old trained by Bruce Levine and ridden by Joe Bravo, Sunday Geisha ran the six furlongs on the fast track in 1:09.82.

"She settled off the early leaders nicely and just waited for me to ask her," Bravo said. "She really kicked it in down the lane and dug in gamely when the horse to her inside tried to fight back."

* In the off-the-turf $60,000 Lincroft Handicap for New Jersey-breds, At the Disco beat Hermosillo by 1 1/4 lengths.

At the Disco ($5.20), trained by Mary Hartmann and ridden by Eddie Castro, covered the 1 1/8 miles in 1:51.20.
