Leslie's Love wires Suthern Accent

Bossier City, La. - Leslie's Love continued her remarkable run of consistency Sunday afternoon as she cruised to victory over three rivals in the Suthern Accent Stakes. Joyce Ann, who like the winner, is trained by Troy Young, finished second followed by Cielo Girl and Italian Dreams.

Breaking cleanly in the Suthern Accent, Melancon placed Leslie's Love on the lead and she never looked back in winning by a length in a time of 1:11.23 over a strip upgraded to fast earlier in the afternoon after early morning rains soaked the area.

Carrying the colors of Donald Foret, Leslie's Love ($3.00) has not finished worse than second in 11 of her last 12 races, most of which have come in stakes. The only blemish during that time was a start at Delta Downs in March when she stumbled badly leaving the starting gate, unseating regular rider Gerard Melancon.

In winning her 20th race from 52 starts, the 7-year-old Combat Ready mare pocketed $30,000 for her efforts. Her career earnings now stand at just over $580,000.

Lauren Lynn and Baileys Affair were late scratches.
