Blue hen Leslie’s Lady has been bred to Not This Time, the connections of the stallion announced on Wednesday evening. It won’t be known if the 22-year-old mare, owned by Clarkland Farm, is in foal until a later date. Leslie’s Lady, a stakes winner herself, is the dam of four-time Eclipse Award heroine Beholder, Grade 1 winner and successful sire Into Mischief, and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf and UAE Derby winner Mendelssohn. All three are bred on the Storm Cat sireline, which Not This Time represents via his late sire Giant’s Causeway. Leslie’s Lady delivered a filly by Triple Crown winner American Pharoah in late April. Not This Time, who bred 145 mares in his first season according to The Jockey Club’s Report of Mares Bred, won two of four starts, all at age 2, before injury ended his career. The horse romped by 8 3/4 lengths in the Grade 3 Iroquois Stakes at Churchill Downs, then fell just a neck short of champion Classic Empire in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita. Out of Grade 3-winning sprinter Miss Macy Sue, Not This Time is a half-brother to Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winner Liam’s Map and to stakes winner Taylor S. Not This Time stands at Taylor Made. :: Get breeding & sales news, Beyer info, and more delivered right to your email!
