Leroidesanimaux retired


Leroidesanimaux, a multiple Grade 1 winner and runner-up to Artie Schiller in the Breeders' Cup Mile, has been retired to stud at Stonewall Farm in Versailles, Ky. A 5-year-old Candy Stripes horse, Leroidesanimaux will stand for a $30,000 fee, the farm announced Friday.

, whose name means "king of the animals" in French, was bred in Brazil by Haras Bage do Sul. He began racing at age 3, and won his second start by more than 11 lengths and then finished second in a Brazilian Grade 1 stakes.

Sent to the United States to race for Stud TNT, he joined trainer Bobby Frankel's barn and developed into a Grade 1 winner.

Since his arrival in California in 2004, Leroidesanimaux has won three Grade 1 events: the 2005 Atto Mile and Frank E. Kilroe Mile Handicap and the 2004 Citation Handicap. He also won the Grade 2 Fourstardave Handicap this season, as well as the Grade 3 Inglewood and Morvich handicaps in 2004.

Leroidesanimaux retires with a lifetime race record of 9-2-0 from 13 starts and $1,658,377 in earnings.

He will help launch Stonewall's stallion roster. The farm, owned by Richard and Audrey Haisfield, will be operating as a stallion farm for the first time in 2006.

Leroidesanimaux is out of the mare Dissemble, a British daughter of Ahonoora bred by Juddmonte. She also is the dam of Brazilian Grade 1 winner Uapybo and Brazilian Grade 3 winner Disport.
