Leroidesanimaux extends streak

ARCADIA, Calif. - Leroidesanimaux extended his winning streak to 4 in Saturday's $100,000 at Santa Anita, a victory that confirmed his status as a turf miler to follow in California.

Ridden by Jon Court, Leroidesanimaux ran about 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course in a quick 1:11.76. He finished 1 1/4 lengths in front of pacesetter De Valmont. Cayoke, the 8-5 favorite, finished third in the field of six.

De Valmont set the pace of 21.45 and 43.31 seconds, while Leroidesanimaux raced in mid-pack. When the field crossed over the main track and onto the main turf course, Leroidesanimaux reached contention with a wide rally.

Owned by TNT Stud and trained by Bobby Frankel, Leroidesanimaux has won 5 of 8 starts and $204,337. The 4-year-old Brazilian bred colt was stakes-placed in Brazil last year and has won 4 of 5 starts in the United States.

Leroidesanimaux's win in the Grade 3 Morvich Handicap was his first start since the Grade 3 Inglewood Handicap at Hollywood Park on May 1. He won two allowance races earlier this year.

The race was run 2 1/2 hours after the Frankel-trained Ghostzapper won the $4 million Breeders' Cup Classic at Lone Star Park.
