Leonnatus Anteas pounces

Leonnatus Anteas overhauled the 4-5 favorite, Mike Fox, in the stretch before drawing away to capture the $251,200 Cup and Saucer Stakes for 2-year-olds at Woodbine.

Leonnatus Anteas stalked a quick pace along the inside under Jono Jones in the 1 1/16-mile turf race. On a yielding course, Mike Fox and Maccabi vied through a half-mile, and Mike Fox took control exiting the turn.

Leonnatus Anteas came inside Mike Fox early in the stretch, then hit the front nearing the eighth pole and won by 2 3/4 lengths, in a time of 1:45.58. Seaside Links rallied from last in the eight-horse field of Canadian-breds to end up second, while Mike Fox faded to third.

Leonnatus Anteas, trained by Kevin Attard, paid $8.30.
