Leggio filly has class edge

Sarahlane'sdestiny ran into future Grade 2 winners Tizaqueena and Points of Grace in her most recent start, and the tough company she has faced might give her a slight edge in the ninth race at Louisiana Downs.

A $20,000 optional claimer with second-level allowance conditions, the about one-mile turf race is for fillies and mares. The field of 10 comprises shippers, sharp locals, and comebackers, among them Enjoy the Score, winner of last year's $80,000 Donnie Wilhite Memorial who is making her first start since December.

Sarahlane'sdestiny last raced Feb. 8 and finished an uncharacteristic seventh in a $40,000 optional claimer at Fair Grounds. The race has since proven to be a deep one, with the winner, Tizaqueena, coming back to score in both the $60,000 Fortin at Fair Grounds and Grade 2 Distaff Turf Mile at Churchill Downs, and the runner-up, Points of Grace, returning to take an optional claimer at Fair Grounds and the Grade 2 Dance Smartly at Woodbine.

As for Sarahlane'sdestiny, she was given a little break, trainer Andrew Leggio said. She has been working well for her return to action Saturday.

"She's fit," he said. "She's fresh and training forwardly right now, and I hope that turns into a good race."

Sarahlane'sdestiny is out of the mare Sarah Lane's Oates, who was a multiple stakes winner of close to $900,000.

"She comes running at the end, just like her mother did," Leggio said of Sarahlane'sdestiny. "She lags back there and makes that one big run."

Carlos Gonzalez has the mount on Sarahlane'sdestiny, who could get a decent pace to chase Saturday.
