Leaving On My Mind wins the $100,000 Jean Lafitte Stakes at Delta Downs on Saturday.

VINTON, La. - Taking care of business as he almost always does, Leaving On My Mind ran to his short price in Saturday night's $100,000 Jean Lafitte Stakes, drawing clear to win by five lengths. Longshot Rubialedo rallied to finish second followed by My Parade, who also turned in a bit of late run.

Leaving On My Mind ($3.40), ridden by Roman Chapa, raced unhurried early in the one mile test for 2-year-olds before advancing in the second turn and leaving little doubt who was best in the local prep for the lucrative $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot scheduled for next month. The homebred son of Valid Expectations covered the distance in 1:40.61 over a fast strip.

Trained by Danny Pish for George Wolff, Leaving On My Mind won for the fifth time in ten career starts and Saturday night's payday increased his career bankroll to over $283,000.
