Leaving On My Mind prevails in Texas Heritage

Leaving On My Mind wins the $40,000 Texas Heritage Stakes at Sam Houston Park on Saturday night.

Leaving On My Mind overtook Major League in the stretch for a three-quarter length win in the $40,000 Texas Heritage Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park on Saturday night. Major League finished second, a length clear of third-place finisher and 4-5 favorite Smooth Bid.

Leaving On My Mind ($7.60) settled in third behind pacesetter Through the Storm, who led the field through an opening quarter in 23.98 seconds, and a half-mile in 48.23 seconds. Leaving On My Mind advanced, took the lead in the stretch, and covered one-mile over a fast track in 1:39.22.

Leaving On My Mind earned $24,000 for the win, which was his fifth in a stakes and sixth overall from 15 starts. Leaving On My Mind has earned $337,623 and races for George Wolff.
