Lawyer Ron's dam to sell

EmailLEXINGTON, Ky. - The dam of Lawyer Ron, now in foal to the highly fashionable sire Distorted Humor, will head to auction at Fasig-Tipton's November mixed sale on Nov. 4.

Donation, a 12-year-old daughter of Lord Avie, will sell as part of the Four Star Sales consignment. Four Star Sales will offer the mare on behalf of Walmac Farm co-owner Bobby Trussell.

Four Star Sales also will consign the mare's weanling colt by Smarty Jones.

"Obviously, Lawyer Ron's performance this year has had a huge impact on the appeal of Donation and her foal," said Four Star Sales's Kerry Cauthen. "A win or top finish in the Breeders' Cup Classic can only add icing to the cake."

Lawyer Ron won this summer's Woodward and Whitney handicaps, taking the latter in track-record time of 1:46.64 for nine furlongs. He also won the 2007 Oaklawn Handicap and most recently finished second in the Sept. 30 Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont, in which he was beaten by a neck by Curlin.

Donation and her Smarty Jones colt will be available for inspection from Nov. 1 at Fasig-Tipton's Barn 4 at Newtown Paddocks in Lexington.
