Lava Man gets post 2 in Pacific Classic

Lava Man, one of the nation's leading older horses and the winner of five consecutive stakes, drew post 2 for Sunday's Grade 1, $1 million Pacific Classic at Del Mar.

Trained by Doug O'Neill for a partnership, Lava Man will be favored in a field of 8. The Pacific Classic is run at 1 1/4 miles.

Top This and That, a closer seeking his first stakes win, drew the rail. Preachinatthebar, who should be Lava Man?s main pace rival, drew post 3. Giacomo, the winner of the 2005 Kentucky Derby, has drawn post 4. Beginning with post 5, the rest of the positions are filled by Magnum, Perfect Drift, Super Frolic, and Good Reward.
