Raconteur, with Chris DeCarlo riding, wins the Private Terms.

Raconteur bounced back from his seventh-place finish in the Grade 3 Gotham earlier this month with a late-running head victory in Saturday's $76,500 Private Terms Stakes at Laurel Park.

With Chris DeCarlo riding, Raconteur was fifth in the field of seven 3-year-olds as the longshot Yo Koffy led the field through a quarter-mile in 23.90 seconds and a half in 47.21 in the one-mile Private Terms. DeCarlo and Raconteur began to advance on the far turn, entering the stretch four wide and taking aim at Hakama, who had taken the lead after Yo Koffy faded. Under the vigorous urging of his rider, Raconteur got up in the final strides to win.

The second-place Hakama was 1 3/4 lengths ahead of Brimstone Island in third. Raconteur covered the distance in 1:37.69 on a fast track, paying $5.60 as the favorite. A Kentucky-bred son of A.P. Indy, Raconteur is trained by Todd Pletcher for Dogwood Stable.
