Laurel: Headsandtales repeats Find Handicap score

Headsandtales has a different rider and trainer, but he still found his way back to the Laurel Park winner's circle following the Find Handicap for the second time.

Winless in seven starts since upsetting the 2007 Find at 25-1 for jockey Jonathan Joyce and trainer Robin Graham, Headsandtales ($11.80) came from off the pace to repeat in the 1 1/8-mile turf race for Maryland-breds.

A 5-year-old gelding now trained by Dale Capuano, Headsandtales rallied under Erick Rodriguez to defeat 2-1 favorite Baltimore Bob by 1 1/4 lengths.

Baltimore Bob held off Dr Rico, the runner-up in last month's Maryland Million Turf, by a neck for second. Headsandtales, who has now won 6 of 29 lifetime, ran the 1 1/8 miles on firm turf in 1:48.06.

Making his second start following a layoff of nearly two months, Headsandtales was eighth of 10 after the first six furlongs in 1:11.84, as 50-1 longshot Water Cannon set the pace, pressured by Headsandtales's uncoupled stablemate Seeyouithecity. Rodriguez swung Headsandtales five wide coming into the stretch and he moved strongly to put his head in front at the eighth pole, and drew clear in deep stretch. He had prepped for the $50,000 Find by just missing in a one-mile optional claiming race three weeks ago.
