Laurel: Gators N Bears lasts

Gators N Bears did all the dirty work in the $50,000 Sonny Hine Stakes, and his reward was a victory in the six-furlong race for 3-year-olds. Under Rick Wilson, Gators N Bears pushed the early pace of Philadelphia Jim, put him away in midstretch, and had enough left to edge the late-running Super Fuse by three-quarters of a length.

Super Fuse bobbled at the start and rallied wide. He finished a head in front of First Blush.

Gators N Bears ($5.20) is owned and trained by Leo Nechamkin. He ran the six furlongs in 1:08.80.
