Lauer stablemates' Beyers biggest in field by far

Trainer Mike Lauer will send out a pair of aces in Z What U Got and Trust in Seven against six other 2-year-old Indiana-bred fillies in the $100,000 City of Anderson at Hoosier Park on Saturday.

The pair are coupled in the wagering because both are both owned by Lauer's wife, Penny. Z What U Got won a maiden race at Mountaineer Park on July 14 by 2 3/4 lengths in gate-to-wire fashion. She then came back to run in the $85,000 Mountaineer Juvenile on Aug. 2, finishing last after setting the early pace. This is her first start against Indiana-bred fillies. Fernando De La Cruz will ride for the first time.

Trust in Seven won her maiden race at first asking here Aug. 30 by 4o1/2 lengths, also in front-running style. Orlando Mojica will ride. Both parts of Lauer's entry earned Beyer Speed Figures of 60 or more in their five-furlong maiden wins, far above any others in Saturday's field. The added half-furlong of the 5 1/2-furlong City of Anderson does not look as though it should be a problem.

But if it does, one of two fillies look poised to pick up the pieces - either Nightly Ritual or Boonetown Gal.

Nightly Ritual used a just-off-the-pace running style to win her maiden Sept. 18 by 8 1/2 lengths going 5 1/2 furlongs. In her previous out she was defeated by Trust in Seven in her debut. Victor Lebron retains the mount for trainer Joe Davis.

Boonetown Gal won her maiden debut here Sept. 4, going from last after a slow start to get up in time to win by a half-length. Mike Nance will give a leg up to Rodney Prescott.
