Latimer, owner, dies at 90

TORONTO, Ontario - Beatrice Latimer, a longtime owner on the Ontario circuit, died at her home Tuesday at age 90.

Latimer, in partnership with her late husband, Bill Latimer, raced both Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds from the 1950's through the 1970's.

Their most famous runner was Belle Geste, who was Canada's champion filly or mare in 1972 and was inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 1990.

A funeral service for Latimer is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel at 2357 Bloor Street West in Toronto.
