Lane's End to get War Pass

EmailWar Pass, who almost certainly will pick up the juvenile championship after a season in which he was undefeated and won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, will retire to Lane's End in Versailles, Ky., at the end of his racing career.

The Farish family's farm announced it had reached a private deal with War Pass's owner, Robert LaPenta, to stand the Cherokee Run colt. No date has been set for War Pass's retirement, and he is likely to take a tilt at the Triple Crown in 2008 for trainer Nick Zito.

In the announcement, Will Farish said that the family is "looking forward to seeing this talented colt return to the track."

War Pass, stabled with Zito's string at Churchill Downs, is scheduled to go to Florida by the end of the month to begin preparations for his expected Triple Crown campaign.

Cherry Valley Farm bred War Pass out of the stakes-placed Mr. Prospector mare Vue. He is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Oath and Grade 2-placed Vision of Beauty.
