Ky's Quest cruises in Red Hedeman

Ky's Quest proved much the best in the $125,000 Red Hedeman Mile at Sunland Park on Saturday, when he stormed to a six-length win in the race for 2-year-olds bred in New Mexico. Band Champ finished second, two lengths clear of third-place finisher Blazing Rockstar.

Ky's Quest ($4.20) was with the pace throughout and covered the distance in 1:40.22. Casey Lambert rode the winner for his father, Cliff Lambert Sr., who bred, owns, and trains Ky's Quest.

The Red Hedeman was the third stakes victory for Ky's Quest, who has won 4 of 10 starts and $213,620.

* Gotta Get ($14.80) won his seventh straight race when he captured the $400,000 Championship, a Grade 1 race for Quarter Horses, by a neck over Pyc Paint Your Wagon.

James Gonzales II rode Gotta Get for trainer Fred Danley, who picked up his fourth six-figure stakes win of the young Sunland meet in the Championship. All of the wins during Gotta Get's streak have come in stakes. He races for Gordon Cox and Rita Danley.

* Mister Ww upset the $311,231 Shue Fly at 46-1, when he won the 400-yard race for Quarter Horses by three-quarters of a length. Gun Battle finished second at 4-5, but was placed ninth for interference. Roy Baldillez rode Mister Ww ($94) for trainer Blane Wood.
