Ky. HBPA elects Rick Hiles

The board of directors of the Kentucky Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association on Monday elected Rick Hiles to a three-year term as president, replacing Susan Bunning, who chose not to run for re-election, according to an announcement from the organization.

Hiles, an owner and trainer, had previously served as the KHBPA's president for two consecutive terms. In a release, the KHBPA said that Hiles was selected unanimously by the board, which selected the president for the first time. The organization had previously allowed its members to elect the president.

The announcement said that the KHBPA plans to "revisit" its voting procedures at its next meeting.

A call to the HBPA's office was not returned on Monday.
