Kuntzweiler in jail again on drug charges

Former jockey Greta Kuntzweiler has been assigned a February trial date after being arrested and jailed since Nov. 21 on charges of manufacturing and possession of methamphetamine.

This is the second time within a year that Kuntzweiler, 31, has been jailed on drug charges. She was freed on bond shortly after being arrested Jan. 7 on five charges, but her attorney, Bob Stallings, said Wednesday that it was uncertain whether Kuntzweiler would be released on bond again before her Feb. 19 trial date in Jefferson Circuit Court. Those initial charges from her January arrest were reduced to disorderly conduct, after which Kuntzweiler completed a rehabilitation program and was attempting to earn a racetrack license again.

Kuntzweiler last rode competitively in 2005, when she had just 12 winners, the lowest number since she began her career in 1999.
