Kuntzweiler gets fine only

Four of the five drug-related charges filed in January against inactive jockey Greta Kuntzweiler were dropped Monday in Jefferson District Court in Louisville, Ky., with a final charge of possession of drug paraphernalia being amended to disorderly conduct and $230 in fines and court costs assessed.

Kuntzweiler, 30, was arrested Jan. 7 at her residence near Churchill Downs and originally charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of an ingredient to manufacture methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kuntzweiler's attorney, Bob Stallings, was in Augusta, Ga., for the Masters on Tuesday and unavailable for comment.

It is unclear if Kuntzweiler will attempt a comeback as a jockey and/or exercise rider, and what obstacles she might face with the Kentucky Horse Racing Authority. Working primarily as an exercise rider last year, Kuntzweiler also occasionally rode in races, winning 12 times from 244 mounts.
