Kodema wins the $50,000 Delta Mile on Saturday at Delta Downs.

Kodema ran to his 2-5 odds in the $50,000 Delta Mile, when he powered home by four lengths over Parrott Bay in the one-mile race for older horses at Delta Downs in Vinton, La., on Saturday night. It was another four lengths back in third to Mr. Archibald.

Kodema ($2.80) settled about three lengths off the pace, overtook the leaders through six furlongs in 1:12.17, then increased his advantage through the stretch. He covered the distance over a fast track in 1:40.09.

Steve Bourque rode the winner for Farefellow Farm and trainer David Carroll. Kodema earned $30,000 for the win, which was his first in a stakes and his fifth overall. His earnings now stand at $161,395.

Kodema is by Seeking the Gold and out of a sister to Grade 1 winner Brocco.
