Kitten's Dumplings controls Little Miss Magic Stakes

Kitten’s Dumplings paid $4.60 for her relative easy two-length win over Zloty in the $75,000 Little Miss Magic Stakes for fillies and mares at Gulfstream Park West on Saturday.  .

It has her first win since she captured the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup in 2013.

With Rafael Hernandez aboard, Kitten’s Dumplings was well in hand sitting in fifth during the early stages of the race.  She started to pick up horses approaching the quarter pole, made a strong move while going four wide around the stretch turn, and took control shortly after turning for home.  The final time for 1 1/8 miles over firm turf was 1:50.02 with Kitten’s Dumplings getting the final eighth of a mile in a quick 11.82 seconds.

Zloty was in a stalking position before rallying along the rail to get up for second. Lori’s Store, five wide on the stretch turn, finished third.

A homebred, Kitten’s Dumplings took home $45,105 for her impressive win and has earned $760,815 for Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey.

Kitten’s Dumplings, a 5-year-old daughter of Kitten’s Joy, is trained by Mike Maker.
