Kitscoty Klipper can do


EDMONTON, Alberta - A field of five fillies and mares run in Sunday's feature race, a $20,3000 allowance, on the last card before Northlands swings into Klondike Days Thursday.

Kitscoty Klipper, trained by Rick Hedge, should find this

6 1/2-furlong sprint to her liking. Kitscoty Klipper has not been worse than third in five outings this season, all in sprints, including a victory at 13-1 in the penultimate card of the Calgary meet. She has been runner-up twice and third on two other occasions. Kitscoty Klipper has also been nominated to next Saturday's John Patrick Memorial at one mile.

Quincy Welch returns as Kitscoty Klipper's rider after she finished third in the Wild Rose under Richard Hamel.

Galaxy Belle returns to Northlands after finishing 11th as the third betting choice in the La Verendrye at Assiniboia Downs. She won two allowance races at Calgary this spring and finished fifth to Sly Lady in both the M.R. Jenkins Memorial and Ken Pearson Memorial.

Brighton Belle will be seeking her second victory of the year and will be ridden by Hamel. A 5-year-old, Brighton Belle won the Alberta Oaks back in September 2001.

Also entered Sunday and nominated to the upcoming John Patrick is This Cat Can, with Perry Winters aboard. She is coming off an allowance victory in late May.

* Raylene is among 10 nominees for next Sunday's Northlands Oaks, a one-mile race for 3-year-old fillies. She will try to avenge her stunning loss to longshot A Shaky Start in the Chariot Chaser here June 29.
