Kingsfield tops Golden Circle

Multiple stakes winner Kingsfield heads a field of six 3-year-olds entered in Saturday's $50,000 six-furlong Golden Circle Stakes at Prairie Meadows.

Kingsfield finished his 2-year-old campaign here on Sept. 5 by rallying to score a two-length victory in the six-furlong Prairie Meadows Freshman Stakes, earning a 95 Beyer Speed Figure, tops in Saturday's race.

Kingsfield has run three times in 2006 all in stakes company. He captured the $80,000 Black Gold at Louisiana Downs in January before finishing seventh behind Lawyer Ron in the one-mile Southwest Stakes last out at Oaklawn Park.

Trainer Thad Keller will run Kingsfield on Lasix for the first time on Saturday. Overall, Kingsfield has a record of 3-2-1 from 8 starts and $97,907 in earnings. Terry Thompson has a return call aboard Kingsfield, who is the 122-pound highweight in the Golden Circle.

Okie Time may have the best shot of upsetting Kingsfield. Okie Time has won 2 of his 3 career starts, including his most recent race, on April 8 at Oaklawn Park. He overcame a wide trip and drew off to a three-length score versus first-level allowance rivals, in a time of 1:10.80 for the six furlongs. Tim Doocy picks up the mount on Okie Time, who is trained by Kelly Von Hemel and will carry 119.

Cab, trained by Steve Asmussen, is the leading money earner in the field with over $104,000.

Cab returned from a three-month layoff and rallied to win his 3-year-old debut by a nose on April 8 at Oaklawn. Carlos Montalvo will ride Cab for the first time.
