King Of Happiness wins Craven Stakes

King Of Happiness has been installed as the second choice for the 2,000 Guineas following a good looking win in the Group 3 Craven Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday.

Coral Eurobet made King Of Happiness, the Michael Stoute-trained colt by Spinning World, 4-1 for the 2,000 Guineas behind the Aidan O'Brien-trained Hawk Wing, the 3-2 favorite. It was another O'Brien-trained horse, Della Francesca, who chased King Of Happiness home in the Craven Stakes.

The winner was making just the second start of his career, having previously taken a Doncaster maiden in August. Kieren Fallon rode the 9-4 favorite who was timed in 1:37.39 for the straight mile.

* At Longchamp on Thursday, the 7.60-1 Califet won a competitive renewal of the 1-1/2-mile Group 3 Prix d'Hedouville by three lengths, turning the tables on Ange Gabriel, who had beaten him last time in the listed Prix Lord Seymour by a head. Two group race winners, Wellbeing (8th) and Yavana's Pace (10th) were both well beaten. The victory was the eighth in fourteen career starts for Califet, a Guy Cherel-trained 4-year-old son of Freedom Cry.

* On Saturday, Europe's undefeated juvenile filly champion Queen's Logic returns to action at Newbury in the 7-furlong Group 3 Fred Darling Stakes. The Group 2-placed Sundari could pose a threat in this important 1,000 Guineas prep.
