Key contenders in the 2017 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies

Moonshine Memories, by Malibu Moon (Last 3 Beyers: 86-82-83)

* Simon Callaghan-trained filly has done absolutely nothing wrong in her three starts and is a deserving favorite here for a number of reasons, including her superior Beyers and tractable speed.

Heavenly Love, by Malibu Moon (Last 3 Beyers: 80-78-52)

* The inside draw surely will give Julien Leparoux a chance to save ground into the first turn and perhaps beyond on a filly whose Alcibiades breakthrough was done with real aplomb.

Alluring Star, by Exchange Rate (Beyers: 81-82)

* The fact she’s had only two starts while acquitting herself respectably gives her a solid chance here, especially given her natural speed and Bob Baffert in her corner.

Gio Game, by Gio Ponti (Last 3 Beyers: 75-64-62)

* Trainer Mark Casse points out she was a winner in an opening-day maiden route at Keeneland, essentially the same race he used last year with Valadorna prior to a runner-up finish in the Juvenile Fillies.

Wonder Gadot, by Medaglia d’Oro (Last 3 Beyers: 81-68-69)

* If every race has a wild card, there can be little doubt this Casse filly is the one for this spot. None of her three starts came over dirt, although the trainer insists she has trained very well over that surface.

Princess Warrior, by Midshipman (Beyers: 71-86)

* Trainer Kenny McPeek has an unusual BC record of 28-0-5-9 and is optimistic this Alcibiades runner-up has enough seasoning and talent to capitalize on her favorable inside draw and break the drought.
