Kevin's Decision, Lady Bi Bi post victories

Kevin's Decision made a decisive midrace move, while Lady Bi Bi needed the entire nine furlongs to get up as the two mares won split divisions of Sunday's Mount Vernon Handicap for New York-breds at Belmont Park.

In the second division, worth $85,100, Kevin's Decision, under Edgar Prado, took over entering the far turn and held off a late charge from Nurse Culkin to win by a length. It was 2 1/4 lengths back to The Lamp Is Lit. On the Bus, the 2-1 favorite, finished fifth. Kevin's Decision ($10.40), trained by Carlos Martin, ran the 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.06 over a firm inner turf course.

In the first division, worth $84,100, Lady Bi Bi overcame a slow pace and wore down Little Buttercup and Sabellina to win by a neck. Little Buttercup got second by a nose over Sabellina, the even-money favorite. Lady Bi Bi ($17.60), trained by John Hertler, covered the 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.12.
