Kera's Kitten, Codoy top Battaglia Memorial

Turfway officials are expecting at least nine 3-year-olds to run Saturday in the $100,000 John Battaglia Memorial, the local prep for the Grade 2 Lane's End.

Kera's Kitten, winner of the Jan. 30 WEBN Stakes for trainer Mike Maker, and Codoy, making his first start since the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, are the likely favorites in the 1 1/16-mile race. Other probable starters are Fish, In the Paint, Justamatteroftime, Lucky Chuck, Pathoki, Slewzoom, and Vow to Wager.

The race comes four weeks before the Lane's End, instead of the customary three, after Turfway officials announced earlier this year that the Lane's End would be run a week later than its originally scheduled date of March 20.

The Battaglia is part of a light weekend of 3-year-old stakes races, along with the Sham Stakes at Santa Anita and the Borderland Derby at Sunland Park.
