Defending champion Rahystrada is among the eight older horses set to run Saturday in the Grade 3, $200,000 Kentucky Turf Cup, the annual meet showcase at turf-only Kentucky Downs.
Trained by Scooter Hughes, Rahystrada most recently dead-heated for third in the Aug. 18 Arlington Million. Corey Lanerie will have the mount on Rahystrada, an earner of nearly $1.2 million, when the 8-year-old gelding breaks from post 3 in the 1 1/2-mile race.
This is the full lineup: Kindergarden Kid, Ioya Bigtime, Rahystrada, Lake Drop, Rezif, Tahoe Lake, Canaveral, and Cozy Kitten.
Three other stakes, all worth $75,000, also will be run on a 10-race Saturday program at the south-central Kentucky track: the Kentucky Downs Ladies Marathon, the Kentucky Downs Juvenile, and Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies.
The Kentucky Turf Cup had been known until this year as the Kentucky Cup Turf.
Kentucky Downs was supposed to have just nine races Saturday, but entries have been so plentiful that they went to 10.

Just gotta pull for this ol guy... Love his handling, he lives his Horse Life and goes to the races from time to time. Go Rahya!

Best Bets
AQUINNAH returns to a route and she couldn't have found a much better spot as a horse who wants to be involved early, as the expected pace scenario figures to favor those runners with a little early zip and she appears to be quickest of them all out of the gate; should control the tempo, and that should lead to her running to her best figures. CHARMINGMEGAN has tactical speed and likes to win, a combination that makes her easy to like; should get first run at the top pick.
