Kentucky Downs Jockey7: Focusing on Ortiz, Leparoux

The mutuel field, the No. 14 or “all others” option, was the winner as a lukewarm 5-2 favorite in the novel Jockey7 Wager yesterday, but at least a couple of individuals have a very strong lineup of Sunday mounts, and I’ll be leaning on both of them to earn the most points today.

Going solely on my 1-2-3 picks in our DRF selectors’ box for races 4 through 10, I’ve got Jose Ortiz (12) on top in three races, with Causeur in race 4, Special Ops in race 7, and One Last Strike in race 10.

Similarly, Julien Leparoux (9), who dominated the Jockey7 on Thursday, could be in line for another big afternoon with on-top selections Daddys Lil Darling in the Dueling Grounds Oaks (race 8) and Parlor in the Dueling Grounds Derby (race 9).

Accordingly, I’ll link Ortiz and Leparoux together in a Jockey7 exacta box (9-12) while also using them 1st/2nd and 1st/3rd in trifecta part-wheels that look like this: 9/12 with 9/12 with 3, 6, 10; and 9/12 with 3, 6, 10 with 9/12. The secondary plays are Florent Geroux (3), Brian Hernandez Jr. (6), and Jose Lezcano (10).

The Jockey7 allows horseplayers to bet on individual jockeys and their mounts and will span the last seven races (4-10) each day at the Kentucky Downs meet.

Win-place-show, exacta, and trifecta wagering will be held on the Jockey7, which consists of 13 jockeys and their assigned mounts, plus a “field” as a 14th entry.

Results are based on a points system for top-four finishes (25-12-9-5).
