Kentucky Downs Jockey7 analysis: Leparoux, Ortiz loaded for closing day

Email

For the final Jockey7 Wager of the five-day Kentucky Downs meet, I’ll go back once again to my key jockeys from Sunday (and who narrowly missed): Julien Leparoux (9) and Jose Ortiz (12).

Going solely on my 1-2-3 picks in our DRF selectors’ box for races 4 through 10, I’ve got Ortiz on top in three races, with Mambo At the Gym in race 5, Royal Holiday in race 6, and Kitten’s Roar in race 9.

Similarly, Leparoux could be in line for another big afternoon with on-top selections Noble Ready in race 7 and Sonic Boom in race 8.

Accordingly, I’ll link Ortiz and Leparoux together in a Jockey7 exacta box (9-12) while also using them first and second and first and third in trifecta part-wheels that look like this: 9/12 with 9/12 with 1, 5, 14; and 9/12 with 1, 5, 14 with 9/12. The secondary plays are Robby Albarado (1), Tyler Gaffalione (5), and the mutuel field (14).

The Jockey7 allows horseplayers to bet on individual jockeys and their mounts, and spans the last seven races (4-10) each day at the Kentucky Downs meet.

Win-place-show, exacta, and trifecta wagering will be held on the Jockey7, which consists of 13 jockeys and their assigned mounts, plus a “field” as a 14th entry.

Results are based on a points system for top-four finishes (25-12-9-5).
