Rosie Napravnik and Mylute come back from a 10 3/4-length allowance victory at Fair Grounds in December.

Rosie Napravnik will ride Mylute in the May 4 Kentucky Derby, according to a statement put out Tuesday by GoldMark Farm, which owns Mylute in partnership with Whisper Hill Farm.

"GoldMark Farm, LLC and Whisper Hill Farm, LLC are pleased to announce that Rosie Napravnik will be reunited with Mylute in the 2013 Kentucky Derby," the statement read. "Rosie was aboard Mylute for his latest victory and we feel fortunate to have her back. We would also like to give special thanks to Shaun Bridgmohan, as well as all of the other riders who have ridden Mylute, for their help in getting him to this point in his career."

Mylute, trained by Tom Amoss, most recently finished second, under Bridgmohan, in the Louisiana Derby. Napravnik rode him one time, when he scored a 10 3/4-length victory in an allowance race at Fair Grounds on Dec. 26.

Napravnik is seeking to become the first female jockey to win the Kentucky Derby. She became the first to win the Kentucky Oaks last year aboard Believe You Can. Her only Derby mount came in 2011, aboard Pants On Fire, who finished ninth. Napravnik is one of just six female riders to compete in the Derby.

Good Luck Rosie!!

Dear Mr. Privman, I'm so glad that Rosie got a Derby mount, but I wish that it was aboard Revolutionary for Todd Pletcher and the WinStar Farm LLC. The good news is however at least she'll have a chance to possibly beat Revolutionary and the afore mentioned trainer/owner team of Todd Pletcher/WinStar Farm LLC that chose Calvin Borel over her. Shaun, Rajiv, Jose Lescano, Eddie Castro, Junior Alvarado, Deshawn Parker, Miguel Mena, Irad Ortiz all much better than Rosie. She is being catered to while above jocks have to fight to get a derby mount.

why don't you grow up. That girl has more balls then you'll ever have. I give her credit for racing in a violent industry that mistreats there jockeys and then people like you insult her. Don't watch is my advice loser. I'll bet on Rosie again.

Vyjack doesn't get the distance either does Mylute and 8 or 9 others. Distance for sure is Verrazano,Revolutionary,Orb,Normandy Invasion,Goldencents, its myluckday and Governor Charlie with Will take charge, the BIGGEST question is....who is the Pace??? Without Falling Sky and Super99 who will lead them Governor Charlie likes to sit 3rd.
D Lange More than 1 year ago
Last I heard Falling Sky was still in. I say no doubt the So Cal horses break. They always do, esp Baffert and Oneil. Oneil sent that pig H Mike over here to win Two Gr stakes. Well, the stipulations said they were graded. Of course post matters but if I had to pick right now-Gov. Ch..

damn, there goes one of my longshots. Rosie is a good rider, but not KY Derby good

Ronnie Franklin won the Derby. And so did Mario Gutierrez, Stuart Elliott, Victor Espinoza, Jorge Chavez, Craig Perrett, and Jose Santos. I would think Rosie compares well with them. If she has the horse, she can win. If her horse isn't good enough, she won't win. In other words....it's the horse that matters.

Her & Mylute will be a hell of a duo in the Stampede and great luck to them as She is a hell of a Jockey and getting better every day!!!...Before all you boys/girls start jumping on a Horse you better wait for the post postions U think???....

This horse hung like a chandelier in the LA Derby (and the Delta Jackpot for that matter). And his breeding doesn't indicate the extra 1/8th will help him. The over/under on his finish in the Derby should be about 11th. I know Rosie fans will be on him, plus he's the workout buzz horse so far. That makes him a significant underlay already. Other than those factors, he's got a big shot!
Steve More than 1 year ago
given that he was wider than the winner all theway, I don't blame the horse for hanging. he'll outfinish revolutionary.
Mike More than 1 year ago
He was wide, but had a clear run. That was the best path in that race. Plus, it's never a good thing to see a horse put a head in front and hang. He had no excuse for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory at FG.
phil bailey More than 1 year ago
His Breeding will only help him go further. Midnight Lute only sprinted because he had breathing problems otherwise Baffert states he would have been a monster going long. Midnight Lute is by Real Quiet who was 5 feet from the triple crown. This horse may be on the verge of only getting better. Only time will tell. The distance is not a factor. I agree, he hung but only after going extremely wide the whole racfe, He raced probably 150 further than Revolutionary.
Mike More than 1 year ago
He's out of a Valid Expectations mare. Thats not a 10 furlong pedigree by any stretch. While I admit he was wide last time, he had a clear run, and had no response when Revolutionary re-rallied. It's just my opinion, but he's a non-factor in the Derby. In addition, Amos's has a horrible record (only 6% winners) in graded stakes. Like most high percentage claiming trainers, he's completely out of his element developing top level stakes horses.
Perl More than 1 year ago
I don't really like the horse's chances either, Mike, but he will be 38-1, so there's no point in pooh-poohing his chances.
Mike More than 1 year ago
Since Mine That Bird and Giacomo, no one goes off at 38-1 anymore. Especially not with all the female dead money in the win pool on Rosie. He'll be more like 25-1. And if he keeps turning clocker heads in the mornings, maybe 20-1.

Everybody is discounting Mylute, but believe me, he is right up there with the best and will show you that on May 4th!!

don't forget about the 5 lbs!!!!!!!!!!
Anonymous More than 1 year ago
Every horse carries 126lbs.......jock doesn't matter.
Eric More than 1 year ago
You mean if a female is riding, she doesn't get the 5 lb. weight allowance? C'mon, that's not fair!
Tim More than 1 year ago
Fillies get 5 pounds off, I think, but that for the horse's gender, not the jocks!
