Sekmet, a full sister to Grade 1 winner In Lingerie, sold for $310,000 to Besilu Stables on Saturday, establishing a high price for the fifth session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale midway through the day.
The 7-year-old Empire Maker mare, consigned by Winter Quarter Farm, agent, is in foal to City Zip. Her first foal is a yearling.
In Lingerie won the Grade 1 Spinster Stakes at Keeneland Race Course, adding to victories earlier this year in the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico and the Grade 3 Bourbonette Oaks at Turfway. The filly brought a bid of $2.2 million on Monday night at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall selected mixed sale, but failed to meet her reserve and was a buyback.
Sekmet and In Lingerie are out of the Grade 2-winning Storm Cat mare Cat Chat, whose dam is champion Phone Chatter. Cat Chat is a half-sister to Mini Chat, the dam of Grade 1 winner Dixie Chatter.
