Stonestreet Farm continued to be active at the Keeneland January horses of all ages sale, with bloodstock agent John Moynihan signing the ticket on $190,000 Cosmo Girl to establish a new high price for a mare during Wednesday's third session.
The 6-year-old City Zip mare was offered as a racing or broodmare prospect by Baccari Bloodstock LLC. Chris Baccari, who raced Cosmo Girl, said he was pleased with the sale.
"I'm glad that Stonestreet bought her, because they'll breed her to nice horses," said Baccari, who purchased Cosmo Girl for $45,000 from the Sea Jay Farm consignment at the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale. "It'll be good for her."
Cosmo Girl won four of 24 career starts for earnings of $156,237. She won the 2011 Carousel Stakes at Oaklawn, and was also stakes placed at Oaklawn and at Lone Star Park.
Cosmo Girl is out of the Personal Hope mare Ever Imelda, who is the dam of six winners from as many starters, including stakes winner Green Suede Shoes. Ever Imelda is a half-sister to Red Mischief, dam of Grade 1 winner Ermine.
