New York-bred graded stakes winner Gitchee Goomie was the top-priced horse early in the first session of the Keeneland January horses of all ages sale on Monday, dropping the hammer at $250,000 to Adena Springs Farm.
The 6-year-old City Zip mare, offered as a racing or broodmare prospect, was consigned by Taylor Made Sales as agent for owner Patsy C. Symons.
Gitchee Goomie, a four-time stakes winner on New York tracks, earned her graded victory in the Grade 3 Dr. James Penny Memorial Handicap at Parx Racing last July. The mare owns seven stakes placings, including a third in the Grade 1 Garden City Stakes in 2010 and runner-up efforts in two editions of the Grade 3 Beaugay Stakes. Overall, she has won seven of 22 career starts for earnings of $680,520.
Gitchee Goomie is out of the stakes-placed Brief Ruckus mare Riotous Miss.
