Keeneland hosts select stallion season auction



LEXINGTON, Ky. - Thoroughbred Charities of America will hold its 21st annual select stallion season auction on Jan. 8 at Keeneland’s entertainment center in Lexington. The event will open at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and dinner, followed by the select season auction at 8 p.m. 

The 29 stallions with seasons on offer are Arch, Bernardini, Bernstein, Bluegrass Cat, Broken Vow, Candy Ride, Congrats, Discreetly Mine, Distorted Humor, Eskendereya, First Samurai, Giant’s Causeway, Hard Spun, Harlan’s Holiday, Indian Charlie, Kitten’s Joy, Lookin At Lucky, Malibu Moon, Medaglia d’Oro, More Than Ready, Quality Road, Rock Hard Ten, Smart Strike, Speightstown, Super Saver, Stormy Atlantic, Street Cry, Street Sense, and Tiznow.

Telephone bidding for both the select and other seasons will take place Jan. 5 through Jan. 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, and bidding for the select seasons will continue at the live auction on Jan. 8. For a complete list of auction seasons and details on how to bid, visit www.tca.org.

Other auction items will include a walk-on part in HBO’s new racing-related dramatic series “Luck,” a box at Santa Anita and two nights’ accommodation, a Triple Crown ticket package, a sports package including tickets to the Breeders’ Cup, U. S. Open golf, and the Indianapolis 500, and more. 

The TCA also will honor the Kentucky Equine Humane Center’s Lori Neagle and Darley Stud. Neagle will receive the TCA Industry Service Award, and Darley will receive the TCA Leadership Award.
