Keeneland figures still up there

The Keeneland November breeding stock sale, on a highly profitable run since opening on Nov. 3, was still producing six-figure horses Tuesday.

The 11-day sale, set to close Thursday, had rung up a pair of $100,000 session-leaders by Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. on the ninth day of selling. The first to reach that mark was a weanling More Than Ready colt bought by KGJB Stables from Glenmalure Farm (Peter and Gina Kirwan), agent. The second $100,000 lot was the broodmare Norwegian Wood, a 3-year-old by Wild Again in foal to Millennium Wind. She went to Bayne Welker, agent, from Millennium Farms Kentucky.

After Monday's session, through eight days the 2003 Keeneland November auction had sold 1,931 horses for $228,574,200, a gain of 25 percent over last year's total, which was for 1,941 horses. The eight-day average was up by 26 percent to $118,371.
