Keeneland Babies for Thursday

Email

Welcome to Keeneland Babies! This meet should be a challenge for the 2-year-olds as many will race over Polytrack for the first time. I'll break down the numbers for every juvenile contest at the meet, and hopefully will improve on the profits made with "Spa Babies." Good luck!

Analysis:
YES LEE raced evenly after being hustled hard from the gate in Ellis Park maiden special weight. Three horses came out of that race to win their next starts including subsequent Pepsi Bassinet winner Devil House, and Call the Kitty, a close third in the Grade 3 Arlington Lassie. She draws outside here, and may sit a good stalking trip while in the clear. MISS VANITY goes second off the layoff after chasing runaway winner in Polytrack debut. New York-bred has broken slowly in both starts, but shows improved works for this, and should appreciate the extra distance. BLUE BROOK showed good speed in career debut, and will make first start for a tag. ROYAL CHAMPAGNE broke a beat slowly, then rushed up in Polytrack debut. Should get a more patient ride here under Leparoux. TEXAS AMBASSADOR makes first start for a tag, and attracts Bejarano. DEVILISH KRIS adds blinkers, and may find herself on the lead.

The Bet: Yes Lee to Win (7-2 odds or more)

Race 2
6 1/2 Furlongs (Polytrack)
Claiming ($25,000)
2-year-old fillies
Purse $24,000

Analysis:
SWEET AND CLEAR is the lone multi-winner in the field, and she destroyed 25K claimers in her most recent start. Faces more pace pressure in this spot, but could be too sharp to down. DAYSOFWEBNROSES makes important second start of form cycle after racing wide over closer-friendly track on October 8. Beyers are improving with each start, and she should get plenty of pace to attack. INDIAN FIRE whipped maiden claimers off big drop in class, but was claimed away from Blasi, and must deal with another layoff line. JON' JEAN halves in price after tiring badly at Hawthorne. Capable of second-off-the-layoff improvement. BINAVICAR rallied nicely from off the pace to break maiden, but takes big step up against winners.

The Bet: Sweet and Clear - Daysofwebnroses Exacta, Sweet and Clear - Indian Fire exacta.

Race 8
1 1/16 Miles (Turf)
JP Morgan Chase Jessamine Stakes
2-year-old fillies
Purse $125,000

Analysis:
BAVARIAN BELLE was beaten as the favorite by KATERBUG three weeks ago, but may use more aggressive tactics switching to Bejarano. Lightly-raced filly still has some upside potential, and should be prominently-placed when the field turns for home. STREET SOUNDS was a strong gate-to-wire winner in turf debut, and shows sharp 58.80 workout for this. She should be on or near the lead under Albarado. KATERBUG has yet to taste defeat, and she looked sharp beating Bavarian Belle in first start against winners. Obviously a threat. AUDACIOUS CHLOE took to turf like a duck to water in winning Monmouth stakes for Pletcher. Has the tactical speed to sit a good trip, and Johnny V. takes this one over BRUSHED GOLD. That Pletcher-trained runner made a big midmove a week ago in Belmont stakes before understandably faltering late. Draws advantageous inside post.

The Bet: Bavarian Belle to Win (7-2 odds or more)
