Keeneland Babies for Sunday

Email

Welcome to Keeneland Babies! This meet should be a challenge for the 2-year-olds as many will race over Polytrack for the first time. I'll break down the numbers for every juvenile contest at the meet, and hopefully will improve on the profits made with "Spa Babies." Good luck!

Enhanced statistical data and meet results will return for Wednesday's card.

Race 5
6 Furlongs (Polytrack)
Maiden Special Weight
2-year-old fillies
Purse $50,000

Analysis:
VINTAGE MUSIC's sire only connects with 9% of his juvenile firsters, but the $34,000 yearling (RNA) is kin to three 2-year-old winners including debut winner and multiple stakes-placed performer Penobscot Bay (168K). She shows bullet workouts in preparation for her debut, and is worth a play at a price. STREET MINSTREL gets Lasix for her second start, and that's a powerful angle in maiden races. Her dam was a Grade 1 winner on turf that has already foaled a pair of blacktype performers. May ultimately prove a better runner on turf, but showed speed in her debut, and owns a bullet workout over Polytrack. She'll be prominent early. CLEVERDALE is the first foal from an unraced half-sister to Grade 3-placed juvenile Sisti's Pride. Her second dam cost seven figures as a juveniles, and she'll debut for phenomenal first-out barn. EYEOFTHEHURRICANE is by the great Storm Cat out of Grade 3 winner Profit Column, and that makes her a full sister to Grade 3 winner Final Round (2-4 at 2). She may want a bit more ground, but her pedigree makes her dangerous. CAPOTE WEST is the first foal to race from dam that cost $140,000 as a yearling. She'll be under the gun from an inside post. ZOFZIG is the first foal to race from Grade 1 winner Zoftig (juvenile debut winner). Shows solid works for her debut, but is stuck outside. DASHES N DOTS shows bullet gate work over Polytrack, and the barn does very well with firsers.

The Bet: Vintage Music to Win and Place (8-1 odds or more)
