Katy Smiles brings streak to Prairie Meadows

Katy Smiles, who invades from Canterbury Park, appears to be the one to beat in the $45,000 Iowa State Fair Stakes at Prairie Meadows on Saturday. The six-furlong event for fillies and mares attracted a field of seven.

The consistent Katy Smiles comes into Saturday's race with a two-race winning streak, including a win in Canterbury's Hoist Her Flag Stakes at six furlongs. The winner of 10 of her 21 starts, Katy Smiles will have her regular rider, Juan Rivera, aboard.

The lone 3-year-old in the field, Splendid in Spring, is 2 for 2 since being claimed for $50,000 earlier this year at Churchill Downs. Splendid in Spring is trained by Tom Amoss and will be ridden by Glenn Corbett, the leading rider at Prairie Meadows.

Another Audible makes her second start away from Nebraska after dominating her competition earlier this year. A 4-year-old daughter of Menifee, Another Audible failed as the 1-2 favorite in a two-furlong sprint last out. She'll be ridden for the first time by Alex Birzer.
