Karakorum Starlet rallies in Personal Girl

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Despite finding herself further back than usual, Karakorum Starlet ($7.20) rallied to win the $68,400 Personal Girl Stakes at Aqueduct on Sunday by a half-length over Starship Cruiser. It was 6 1/2 lengths back to Margies Smile in third.

Karakorum Starlet, under Stewart Elliott, was forced to steady at the start and was 5 1/2 lengths off the lead after the opening quarter mile. But she rallied three-wide on the turn, opened up a 3 1/2-length lead at the eighth pole, and held on for the win, her fourth straight in a New York-bred stakes. She covered seven furlongs in 1:24.97 and returned $7.20.

Karakorum Starlet, a 5-year-old daughter of Skip Away, is owned by Karakorum Farm and trained by Jeff Odintz.
