Juveniles in the spotlight at Lincoln

Local 2-year-olds will get their first stakes exposure as seven Nebraska-breds, many making their career debuts, meet in the $20,000 State Fair Futurity, a 4 1/2-furlong race at Lincoln State Fair.

Big Bad Bunny, trained by Larry Donlin Jr., made her career debut June 15, finishing fifth, beaten 2 3/4 lengths, in a maiden test going a half-mile. She was wide through the turn of that race. Her seasoning could prove an advantage. Big Bad Bunny, by Dazzling Falls out of the mare Big N Bad, will be ridden by Don Herber from post 3.

The Straw Girl is a half-sister to stakes winner The Straw Man and will likely get some support in her career debut. Trained by Jason Wise, The Straw Girl will have Alonzo Guajardo aboard from post 5. Wise also will send out Apple Crumble as part of an uncoupled entry. Apple Crumble will be ridden by Larren Delorme from post 6.

Trainer David Anderson sends out the trio of Reach One More, From the Ashes, and King Tymatt. They will be uncoupled in the wagering due to different ownership. All three breezed from the gate in 38.20 seconds on Thursday morning as their final tune-up.
