Juvenile Fillies: Evita Argentina to challenge

Evita Argentina is one of two fillies to have defeated Stardom Bound. She will try to do it again in Friday's $2 million Juvenile Fillies, where Stardom Bound figures to rule a strong favorite. Trainer John Sadler had pre-entered Evita Argentina and Emmy Darling in both the Juvenile Fillies and Juvenile Fillies Turf, but was always planning to run one in each race.

Evita Argentina was the likely horse to run in the Juvenile Fillies. She has won 2 of 3 starts - including a win over then-maiden Stardom Bound in the Grade 3 Sorrento - before finishing fourth to Stardom Bound in the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante at on Sept. 1.

"My filly breezed a little fast before the Debutante, might have been a little flat," Sadler said.

While Stardom Bound came out of the Debutante to win the Grade 1 Oak Leaf, Sadler decided to freshen Evita Argentina and train her up to this race.

"We thought the best way for her come up best for this race was to give her the time coming into it," Sadler said. "She's worked really well and I don't think distance is going to be a problem."

On Oct. 16, Evita Argentina worked a solid six furlongs in 1:12.20 over Hollywood Park's Cushion Track.
