'Justice,' on a roll, eyes repeat


EDMONTON, Alberta - Crown's Justice seeks his second straight victory, and his third in four races, in the 6 1/2-furlong feature for $30,000 claimers here at Northlands Friday.

An Ontario-bred 5-year-old trained by Pam McDougall, Crown's Justice will face six rivals. Crown's Justice will retain the riding services of leading rider Rickey Walcott following a two-length win as the favorite at the $30,000 level. He has also won twice this season with a $22,000 claiming tag.

Red's the Rage moves up the ladder following two successive wins against the $22,000 kind. Trained by Tom Dewey, Red's the Rage has also won at the $17,500 level. Stephan Heiler retains the mount.

Bridge to Romance finished off the board in the Red Diamond Express and returns to the level where he had two victories and was photoed out in another race here this summer. Trained by Red Smith, Bridge to Romance has 4 wins in 10 starts this year.

Nugrayontheblock returns to the Alberta circuit after campaigning at Assiniboia Downs, where his best result was a second in the R.J. Speers Handicap. Also trained by Smith, Nugrayontheblock will run uncoupled from Bridge to Romance. Leanne Painter will be aboard.

Former Alberta champion older horse Code Name Fred will have Quincy Welch returning as his rider. Code Name Fred won the Sales Handicap at Stampede Park in his first start of the season.
