Just Michel back at favorite track

Co-highweights Just Michel and Imahoneytoo lead a field of 12 Ohio-bred fillies and mares in the $50,000 Scarlet and Gray Handicap at Beulah Park.

Just Michel is the most accomplished runner in the six-furlong Scarlet and Gray. The 6-year-old Just Michel has 16 wins in 39 career starts and a field-topping $354,323 in earnings.

In her most recent start, Just Michel finished a closing third, beaten 3 1/2 lengths, versus males in the $75,000 Best of Ohio Sprint going six furlongs at Thistledown on Oct. 6.

Luis Gonzalez has a return call aboard Just Michel, who does her best work locally, with a record of 9-3-0 from 14 starts at Beulah. Just Michel, trained by Mike Nance, figures to rally from a stalking position while carrying 122 pounds.

Imahoneytoo enters the Scarlet and Gray coming off back-to-back wins, the latest a 2 1/2-length score in the $100,000 Best of Ohio Distaff going 1 1/8 miles at Thistledown two weeks ago.

Imahoneytoo has a career mark of 7-8-8 from 31 starts and $222,206 in earnings for her owner, trainer, and breeder, Richard Zielinski. Jeff Skerrett has a return call aboard Imahoneytoo.

Parthenope adds depth to the field. With nine wins in 2006, Parthenope is one of the nation's leaders. Most of her victories this year have come against starter allowance company but she did score an upset over Just Michel in a $50,000 Ohio-bred stakes here by 1 1/2 lengths going six furlongs on April 22. Yuri Yuranga rides Parthenope for owner-trainer Larry Eilers.
