Junior College won the $50,000 Hot Springs Stakes for the second straight year on Saturday when he swept past his dueling rivals in the stretch to win in front of an Oaklawn Park crowd of 16,818. Indian Chant finished 2 3/4 lengths back in second, while it was another three lengths back in third to Lovango.

Junior College ($6.80) raced in fourth early, about three lengths behind Mr. Nightlinger, Natural Speed and Indian Chant as they dueled through fractions of 21.50 seconds for the opening quarter in 44.75 for the half-mile mark. Junior College overtook the leaders just inside the furlong grounds, and went on to cover the six furlongs on a track rated fast in 1:09.85.

Eddie Razo rode the winner for trainer Tony Reinstedler. Junior College earned $30,000 for his win in the Hot Springs, which was his third stakes win in his last four starts. His others came in the $62,000 Bet on Sunshine Handicap at Churchill Downs in November, and the $50,000 Holiday Cheer at Turfway Park in December.

Junior College has now won 11 of 23 starts and $365,446. He races for Mjaka Stables.
