Jones eyes Jackpot, Princess

Trainer Larry Jones on Wednesday said he has a pair of 2-year-olds he would like to send to Delta Downs for next month's Grade 3, $750,000 Delta Jackpot and Grade 3, $500,000 Delta Princess. Pre-entries for the races, which will be run Dec. 5, will be taken on Friday.

Jones said It Happened Again, who earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 83 for a sharp maiden win last out at Philadelphia Park, is a candidate for the Jackpot. He said he hopes the horse will be able to get into the race, which if oversubscribed has graded stakes and earnings preferences. It Happened Again is a son of Proud Citizen.

Jones will have one of the top choices in the Princess in Just Jenda, a daughter of Menifee. She is undefeated in two career starts, and in her most recent start romped in the $75,000 Brandywine at Philadelphia Park. For the effort, she earned a Beyer Figure of 89.

* The All-American Futurity winner, Stolis Winner, was the fastest qualifier for the $1.1 million Texas Classic Futurity for Quarter Horses, which will be held at Lone Star Park on Nov. 29.
